Birdwatching in Huelva

From the iconic flamingos in the marshes of Doñana National Park to the spectacular sight of thousands of migratory birds stopping over at the Odiel Marshes – Huelva is a birdwatcher's paradise. As we explore the countryside, watch out for glimpses of rare wildlife such as the Spanish imperial eagle and the black-winged kite. We’ll visit one of the largest black vulture colonies in Iberia, where we might also see owls and eagles. We’ll explore key wetland areas and marshes home to more than 200 species of birds, including the black-necked grebe and Europe's most important colony of Eurasian spoonbills. Freshwater lakes are where we’ll spot migratory birds that often stop here, such as caspian terns, purple swamphens, and ferruginous ducks. Each excursion is accompanied by an experienced Saga wildlife host, who will recap on the day's sightings each evening.
